Did you know?

Organika’s BC White Ginseng Capsules are a pure source of American Ginseng. Native to North America, American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) was first discovered in present-day Montreal in 1716. Besides being used in traditional medicine by Native Americans, it is also used and traded to China for over 200 years.

TRADITIONALLY, AMERICAN GINSENG HAS BEEN USED:

  • To aids in weakness in the elderly
  • As a reproductive tonic
  • To normalize libido in both men and women
  • To tonify digestion, especially during periods of stress

It’s also been researched in its role in helping to maintain normal blood sugar levels.

The main active constituents in ginseng are ginsenosides. Compared to Asian or Panax ginseng, American ginseng contains less of the ginsenosides responsible for increasing the body’s ability to utilize adenosine triphosphate (ATP) during periods of stress. American ginseng, however, typically contains ten times more of the ginsenosides which are responsible for central nervous system anti-stress activity, compared to the ginsenosides that function as a central nervous system stimulant. Due to these differences, Traditional Chinese Medicine claims that American ginseng offers a cooling yin effect, which offsets the “heat” caused by certain stressors, such as overworking and excess noise.
